I have been making mosaics since 2002. I was living in Australia at that time, and had become fascinated by the many public mosaic installations I encountered across the country. I had been creating art my entire life, through music, photography, needlework, and even writing. Mosaic, however, held a unique appeal to me. The way I could use tesserae to manipulate light and reflection, the tactile nature of the medium, and the hands-on, meditative method of working in mosaic opened up exciting new avenues of exploration for me, and became both an exterior means of creative expression, and a deeply personal, intimate spiritual practice.
My method of intuitive mosaic has evolved over the years to connect me to the earth and to the divine feminine. My unique set of life experiences has caused me to face many obstacles and painful challenges. The resulting C-PTSD is an everyday battle I face, but the daily struggle has honed a tenacity in me that is mighty and oftentimes stubborn. The drive to learn everything I can about the materials with which I create, and to experience the deep nuances of the organic forms with which I long to connect, pushes me to explore new methods of visual expression and continues to perfect my craft.
